Sparkling Women Who Make the Bubbles Pop

Raising a glass to celebrate Sparkling Wine Week this July. While the world toasts the fizz, I’m shining the spotlight on the incredible women pouring their hearts, heritage, and bold vision into some of the most distinctive sparkling wines out there. These ladies aren’t just making bubbles—they’re redefining what women bring to the industry: creativity, resilience, deep connection to the land, storytelling, and that special magic that turns grape into pure joy.

I’ve had the pleasure of tasting, visiting (or connecting with), and writing about these gems right here on The Happy Vine. From the morainic hills of Lake Garda to Champagne’s Vallée de la Marne, Prosecco’s moonlit vineyards, Umbria’s historic estates, and the vibrant heart of Emilia-Romagna, each wine tells a powerful story. Let’s pop some corks and dive in—complete with fun summer pairings to match the season!

Giovanna Prandini of Perla del Garda

Giovanna co-founded Perla del Garda in 2000 with her brother Ettore and serves as the passionate viticultrice behind its sustainable, natural approach. As a bold woman making the best wines naturally, she elevates indigenous grapes with hands-on care and deep respect for the land.

In Lugana’s unique glacial soils and lake-influenced microclimate, her 100% Turbiana (Trebbiano di Lugana) shines as an elegant Metodo Classico Brut Nature. It offers lively acidity, lush texture, notes of green apple, pineapple, mandarin, lemon zest, and savory minerals—often with extended lees aging for beautiful complexity.

Fun Summer Pairing: Grilled lake fish or shrimp skewers with fresh herbs, bright citrus salads, or prosciutto e melone. Pure Garda sunshine—perfect for lakeside picnics or relaxed sunset aperitivo!

Christine Sévillano of Champagne Piot-Sévillano Cuvée Rebelle Blanc de Blancs 2017

Christine, owner and winemaker at this 10th-generation family estate in Vincelles, farms with heart and intention. With minimal intervention and a spirited “Rebelle” energy, she crafts expressive Champagnes that honor tradition while pushing boundaries.

From the sandy-limestone slopes of the Vallée de la Marne, her 100% Chardonnay Cuvée Rebelle delivers ripe stone fruit, baked apple, quince, lemon curd, brioche, and toasted hazelnuts. With thoughtful reserve wine blending and lees aging, it achieves perfect harmony—round, mineral-driven, and utterly balanced.

Fun Summer Pairing: Fresh oysters, crab cakes with lemon aioli, ceviche, or grilled chicken with herb sauce. Ideal for breezy patio brunches or elegant backyard gatherings!

Sarah Dei Tos of La Vigna di Sarah Grappoli di Luna Extra Brut Millesimato Prosecco Superiore 2025

Sarah founded her organic estate in 2010, infusing her fascination with the moon’s rhythms into every decision. Her night-harvest innovation and poetic approach bring feminine intuition and wonder to quality Prosecco production.

In the steep hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, her Glera Grappoli di Luna dazzles with creamy texture, fine bubbles, ripe apple and pear, white flowers, and bright citrus. The vendemmia notturna captures exceptional purity and vibrancy.

Fun Summer Pairing: Prosciutto-wrapped melon, Caprese salad, fried zucchini blossoms, or stone fruit and arugula. Effortlessly chic for picnics or poolside sipping!

The Women Of Scacciadiavoli Pas Dosé Trebbiano Spoletino Spumante, Spoleto DOC 2021

At this historic Montefalco estate (roots in the 1800s), women across generations nurture a rich family legacy and the legendary “devil-chasing” spirit tied to their joyful wines.

From Umbria’s sun-drenched volcanic hills, their Trebbiano Spoletino-focused Pas Dosé (classic method) offers golden elegance, candied orange, passion fruit, marzipan, vibrant acidity, and fine bubbles—pure and dosage-free.

Fun Summer Pairing: Seafood towers, prosciutto-heavy charcuterie, Sicilian fish stew, or grilled vegetables with herbs. Rooftop toasts or al fresco dinners never tasted so magical!

Alicia Lini of Lini 910 – Labrusca Lambrusco line

Alicia, a dynamic fourth-generation force at the 1910-founded family winery in Correggio, left ballet dreams to champion dry, artisanal Lambrusco. She brings fresh energy and determination, shifting perceptions with professionalism and passion.

In Emilia-Romagna’s fertile vineyards, the Labrusca wines (often Salamino-based, with blends) deliver crisp, dry fizz—dark cherry, blackberry, wild berries, herbs, and lively acidity. Charmat or Metodo Classico styles offer versatility and pure pleasure.

Fun Summer Pairing: Prosciutto di Parma with melon, wood-fired pizza with arugula, charcuterie boards, grilled sausages, or BBQ ribs. Made for carefree picnics and summer evenings under the stars!

These remarkable women remind us that sparkling wine is so much more than celebration—it’s legacy, connection, resilience, and the feminine energy lifting the entire industry. I hope this inspires you to seek out their bottles and raise a glass to the women making waves.
