Clos de Luz Carmenère Massal 1945 - 2019

As the name of the wine indicates their vines date back to 1945 and amongst the oldest vines in Chile. They follow massal selection, none of their vines are grafted or cloned. This wine is from the family vineyards in Almahue Valley subregion of the Rapel Valley, Chile. A style of wine from grapes grown in the cool, mountainous climate of the region, this exquisite blend, primarily Carmenère (92%) with a touch of Syrah (8%) to add structure and acidity, undergoes a meticulous 12-month aging process in fine French oak barrels.

Deep inky hued rim offers captivating tapestry of aromas, with ripe black plum, dark raspberry and blackberry taking center stage. A subtle undercurrent of dried herbs and a whisper of bell pepper arrive. As the wine breathes, the complexity deepens with earth, cocoa, tobacco and vanilla leave their trail in the aroma wake.
