Anthony Road Wine FLX
Summertime is all about thirst quenching wines and this rosé fits the bill. This was a first for me - a Finger Lakes Rosé from one of my favorite grapes - Cabernet Franc.
Anthony Road Rosé of Cabernet Franc 2020
Finger Lakes, NY
Blend: 80% Cabernet Franc 20% Lemberger
1973 saw many changes for the Martini family. John and Ann packed up their belongings, family in Baltimore and headed to Seneca Lake to pursue a dream. They started with 5 acres of vineyards which quickly grew over time to 30. Theirs is a labour of love like a family, in winemaking and in viticulture. They produce a wide range of wines from dry to sweet. This particular Rosé crushed grapes were macerates for 10-18 hours, following a fermentation and ageing in both stainless steel and neutral oak barrels.
Pours into the glass a medium salmon pink color
Swirl and lively aromas of ripe wild red berries, spice and dried herbs.
Sip and you palate is greeted both lively acidity and flavors of cherry, rhubarb, watermelon, tart apple, blood orange, wild strawberry, honeysuckle, yeast, grapefruit zest, melon and minerals and finishes on the heat of red pepper flakes. It’s a medium bodied style of Rosé at 13.7%abv that has a refreshing and crisp finish.
Pair with Feta, spinach, mint and quinoa salad, chicken chive tartelettes or pork carnitas.
