Coravin - The Wine Enthusiasts Beloved Tool

What is a Coravin you ask? A Coravin is a wine preservation system that allows wine lovers to enjoy a glass of wine without opening a bottle. The first will taste the same as the last…..The system will preserve the wine for weeks to years (the screw cap will preserve it for up to 3 months). I’m sorry, did you say I don’t have to open a bottle of wine just to have a glass of wine? YES! You read correctly. Coravin is the first patented technology system that enables the cork to reseal itself.

How does it work? Simply insert the needle, tip the bottle, pump the trigger to pressurize the bottle with the argon gas in the system, release the trigger as you pour the desired amount like you would pour any glass of wine, tip the bottle back up to stop the pour, remove the needle by pulling the system up. This system ensures that no oxygen comes in contact with the wine thus ensuring the preservation of the wine.

The system works with natural cork, agglomerate cork, multi piece cork and twin top cork. All of these forms of cork reseal themselves after use of the Coravin system. Screw cap bottles use a Coravin Screw Cap attachment which works up to 50 punctures. Currently there is no solution for Champagne and Sparkling wines but it is in the works with the Coravin team.

The systems range from $200 or more depending on the options selected. It is an investment but as a wine enthusiast and educator the price is justified.

I personally had a wonderful experience with the Coravin Customer Service team. My model had a defect. I called and they immediately expedited an exchange model within days. Very prompt and courteous customer service.
